Pastor Mike Willis, Jeff Kobza and Jim Kells are leading us on this journey. Our team members are Becky, Ann, Sue, Linda, Donna and Clancey as well as Jaiden, Rick, Jon and Jeff F.
We left our respective areas of the Northeast around 11 p.m. last night, traveling in two groups to JFK airport in NYC where we were met for our flight to Port au Prince (PaP). As a team we have collected several requested items that places we are going to visit have requested in addition to things for other missions we have previously been involved with. We have also brought School Kits and Health Kits to distribute. All in all we have checked in sixteen 20 - gallon totes and one very large suitcase in addition to us each having a carry-on.
We arrived on this morning (Thursday, October 20th) to rain and fog in PaP which continued all day. For the handful of us who have been here before we know this is highly unusual. After going through Immigration we find ourselves waiting for over almost an hour at the luggage carousel. Two of our totes did not make it to Haiti with us. We file the appropriate reports and proceeded to Customs and outside to the heat and rain. It takes us several minutes to find out driver from Healing Haiti and and get the Tap Tap (see picture below) loaded. Wet and tired we finally are off to our ho!w away from home for the next 10 days.

The short ride to the Healing Haiti Guesthouse at Delmas 31 was, thankfully, uneventful. For many on our team it was a first look at Haiti and the hustle and bustle of PaP. Upon arrival we were greeted and shown to our rooms to get settled in. We will take a short rest, have a light lunch and will visit a local artisan place this afternoon.
Thanks for coming along on our mission trip with us. Check back soon to read about everything we do.
